Services Explained
Individual
Individual therapy provides a private, collaborative space to better understand yourself, what you are experiencing, and what you may want to change. You may come to therapy with a specific concern such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, chronic illness, caregiver stress, grief, or a major life transition or simply with the sense that something is not working the way you would like. Together, we look beyond symptoms to become curious about the patterns, relationships, experiences, physical and emotional health, values, strengths, and circumstances that have shaped where you are today. The work may involve understanding the past, developing practical ways to navigate the present, making changes where change is possible, and finding ways to live meaningfully with circumstances that cannot simply be changed.
Couples
Couples therapy is not only for relationships in crisis. It can provide a space to strengthen a relationship, prepare for marriage, navigate the transition into married life, or reconnect when a relationship has become strained or distant. Premarital and newly married couples may use therapy to better understand one another’s expectations, communication styles, family-of-origin experiences, approaches to finances, intimacy, household and family roles, boundaries, conflict, and hopes for their future together. For couples experiencing difficulties, therapy offers an opportunity to slow down and become curious about what is happening between you, particularly when conversations have become difficult, connection feels distant, trust has been disrupted, or the same conflicts continue without resolution. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we explore the patterns beneath the conflict and how each partner’s experiences, needs, expectations, vulnerabilities, and ways of relating contribute to the relationship. The goal is to create a space where both partners can feel heard and understood while developing healthier communication, deeper understanding, and more intentional ways of building and sustaining their relationship.
Families
Families are interconnected systems, and when one person is struggling, the effects are often felt throughout the family. Family therapy provides a collaborative space to understand the relationships, communication patterns, roles, expectations, boundaries, and experiences that influence how family members relate to and support one another. Families may seek therapy when navigating conflict, estrangement, changing family roles, caregiving responsibilities, chronic or serious illness, major transitions, or the challenges of supporting a family member living with significant mental illness. The goal is not to identify one person as “the problem,” but to understand what is happening within the broader family system, create space for different perspectives, strengthen communication and healthy boundaries, and help family members find healthier ways of remaining connected while also caring for themselves.
